The draft was presented through Egyptian mediation.
Egypt, acting as mediator, has presented the Hamas group with a new Israeli proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. However, Hamas believes that the proposal does not meet its requirements.
The Times of Israel and Reuters reported that.
‘The draft we received as part of the Gaza ceasefire negotiations is an Israeli draft, and for the first time it includes disarming Hamas as part of the negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire,’ Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said.
He added that ‘it is a million red lines’ and that Hamas rejects it.
Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters earlier that the proposal did not fulfil the Palestinian group's demand that Israel commit to a complete cessation of hostilities.
However, Abu Zuhri says Hamas is willing to release all hostages in one go, in exchange for an end to the war and the retreat of IDF forces from the Gaza Strip.
Threats from Israel
If Hamas does not agree to the hostage release deal, the IDF will intensify its offensive in Gaza, Israeli Defence Minister Yisrael Katz said. He emphasised that the IDF operations' main goal is to force Hamas to agree to the hostage release deal.
Prior to Trump's inauguration, his Middle East emissary Stephen Whitkoff forced the two sides to make a painful compromise and implement a gradual hostage exchange agreement in exchange for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip and the release of Hamas members from Israeli prisons. In March, that agreement ceased to be in force and Israel resumed attacks against the terrorists because Hamas refused to hand over hostages to Israel.
