NASA satellites record fires throughout the garrison in the Vladimir region of Russia, where one of the largest arsenals of the missile and artillery department of the Russian Defense Ministry is located. The Astra Telegram channel reported that the FIRMS fire monitoring system recorded a fire on the territory of this arsenal.The map shows five thermal spots covering an area of three and a half square kilometers.

According to Defense Express, the 51st GRAU arsenal contained 264 thousand tons of various ammunition and was under the cover of the most concentrated air defense system.

The warehouse is located just 60 km from Moscow and 530 km from the border with Ukraine.

The portal writes that, most likely, solid-fuel missiles - anti-aircraft or ballistic, as well as rockets for multiple launch rocket systems - detonated at the arsenal.According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was so powerful that the "mushroom" from it was visible even 50 kilometers away - in the Moscow region.

Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeev said on the morning of April 23 that the detonation of ammunition in the warehouses was “gradually ending”. In the Kirzhachsky District, schools and a number of businesses have been closed and roads have been blocked. A state of emergency has been declared in several populated areas.

As a result of the scattering of shells, four people were injured. According to the governor, several munitions fell on civilian objects.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the explosions on the territory of the military unit were caused by a violation of safety regulations.According to local authorities, the warehouse may contain up to 270 thousand tons of ammunition.

Evacuation continues in the Kirzhachsky District; as of the morning of April 23, 495 people are in temporary accommodation.
