Russian Conscripts Sent To Belgorod Region

To take part in combat operations.

The Russian military command plans to send conscripts of the 18th rifle battalion of the 488th motorised rifle regiment to Belgorod region. This is stated by the ‘I Want to Live’ - a project of the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war (with the support of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate), reports Novoe Vremya.

It is noted that conscripts are sent to Belgorod region several months before demobilisation.

‘We have been asked by conscripts of the 18th battalion to make a fuss, as they are to be sent to the front line again. They handed us a list of conscripts, which the command plans to send this month,’ ‘I Want to Live’ said, publishing the list, which contains 375 names.

It is also reported that the battalion is now at strongholds at the entrance to the village of Glushkovo in Russia's Kursk region, and was previously based in the village of Durovo. Now the Russian command plans to redeploy the battalion to the area of Zabuzhevka settlement.

‘In order to then throw them into assault actions against the AFU in the settlements of Demidovka and Popovka in Belgorod region,’ the Coordination Headquarters explained.

According to the soldiers from the 18th Battalion, most of them were drafted in April-June 2024 and they should be demobilised by the end of the summer.

‘Another 24 soldiers of the battalion, mostly from the 3rd rifle company, including the company's deputy commander for military and political work senior lieutenant Karashev Alibek, were captured after the Kursk disaster of the Russian Armed Forces in August 2025,’ the headquarters said.

The ‘I Want to Live’ also added that they communicated with many of them and warned them that they would not be dismissed from service after their return from captivity. This is what happened, the Coordination Headquarters emphasised.
