The US To Withdraw Troops From Polish Base Where They Coordinate Aid To Ukraine

Poland and NATO will defend the base in Yasenka.

As part of the optimization of the military presence, the United States has decided to redeploy troops and equipment from the Polish base in the village of Yasenka, where work was carried out to coordinate military aid to Ukraine, the command of the US Army in Europe and Africa reported.

“Important work to coordinate military aid to Ukraine through Yasenka will continue under the leadership of Poland and NATO with a reduced US military presence. Poland and its allies will maintain a robust defense infrastructure around this critical facility,” the statement said.

US troops have been in Yasenka temporarily since 2022; there was no permanent military base there. The troops will be transferred to permanent facilities in order to save money, said the commander of the US Army in Europe and Africa, General Christopher Donahue.

Yasenka (the Rzeszów airport is located there, the base is called Polloghab) is located approximately 50 kilometers from the border with Ukraine (Volyn region) and approximately the same distance from the Belarusian border (Brest region).
