American President Donald Trump has commented for the first time on the subsoil agreement after Ukraine and the US signed it. He believes the U.S. will get more than it puts in.
According to NewsNation.
Answering a question about whether the deal could somehow "rein in" Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Trump said, "Well, it could be."
"We made an agreement today where we're going to get, you know, a lot more in theory than $350 billion, but I wanted to be protected," Trump said.
He said that was the amount of money his predecessor Joe Biden gave to Ukraine in the form of cash and military equipment. Trump reiterated that the U.S. has given Ukraine far more aid than Europe.
Trump said he told Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during their meeting at the Vatican before Pope Francis' funeral that "it's a very good thing" if he signs the agreement because "Russia is much bigger and much stronger."
Reminder that Ukraine and the United States signed an economic cooperation agreement , better known as the Ukrainian subsoil agreement.
