Lindsey Graham: Next Week, The U.S. Senate Will Begin Pushing A Sanctions Bill Against Russian Federation
The Republican senator visited Kiev today.
Senator Lindsey Graham from the Republican Party in the United States said that he expects the Senate to begin consideration of the bill on sanctions against Russia next week. He said this at a press conference in Kiev, writes "Interfax-Ukraine" on May 30.
"So, I expect that next week the Senate will begin to advance the sanctions bill. There are members of the House of Representatives who are ready to make their changes, and you will see congressional action," Graham said in Kiev.
Also, according to him, US President Donald Trump has already said that the next two weeks "will be determinative of the outcome." According to Graham, the Russians are not interested in peace, so the next meeting in Istanbul with the Ukrainian side is unlikely to bring any result.
"So when this two-week period is over, I think it will be quite clear to everyone that Russia is playing the game at the expense of the world, not just the United States," he emphasized.
On May 27, Graham addressed the Russians, emphasizing that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is "leading them into the abyss." On the same day, Trump said Putin was "playing with fire." According to the American leader, if it were not for him, "a lot of bad things" would have already happened to Russia.
Graham had earlier warned that the US Senate was ready to impose 500% duties against countries that buy Russian energy resources.
