Russian Drones Staged An Invasion Of Belarus

A record number of fly-ins and a minimum of three shootdowns.

Information about incidents of incursions by Russian attack drones and their imitators during the week of July 7-13 was collected by "Flagstaff".

The study of data from monitoring channels showed that this week was a record week: according to "Flagstaff" calculations, there were at least 59 cases of Russian UAVs flying into the airspace of Belarus while attacking the territory of Ukraine.

There were 17 such cases in June, and even fewer in the previous months. The number of incursions in July is approaching the number of January 2025, when there were at least 94 incursions.

The largest number of incursions in July, according to the information on the channel "Rynda monitors", occurred on July 8, 9, 10 and 12.

The residents of Homel heard the characteristic sound of "Shahed" in the sky on July 9 and 10. Residents of Rechitsa district saw a fighter chasing a drone on July 11, but they did not hear the sounds of shooting down.

On July 12, however, three drones were seen being shot down in one day in Gomel, Loevo districts and, presumably, on the border of Gomel and Brest regions.

The shooting down of a UAV over Zyabrovka in Gomel district at around one o'clock in the morning was reported by Flagshtok. Also at night, a drone was eliminated near the village of Mokhov, Loyevsky district, according to Pozirka.

One more drone was probably shot down in the evening of July 12 in the west of Gomel region. A Belarusian Mi-24 helicopter hit a Russian UAV flying toward Ukraine in the Gomel region, Ukrainian press reported, citing intelligence sources. At that time, monitoring channels recorded several drones flying into Gomel Region and their movement along the border in the western direction.

The actual number of violations of Belarusian airspace by Russian UAVs from the territory of Ukraine may be noticeably higher.
