The UOC-MP Was Given An Ultimatum

Through August 18, 2025.

The Ukrainian State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (SSEC) has issued a prescription to the Kiev Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), in which it found signs of affiliation with the Russian Orthodox Church, writes New Voice.

The HESC emphasized that it had not received any documentary evidence of the UOC's actual withdrawal from the Russian Orthodox Church.

In particular, the Kiev Metropolitanate continues to be part of the structure of the Russian Orthodox Church, whose activities are banned in Ukraine.

In the order, the service requires Metropolitan Onufriy to provide official decisions of the church authorities on:

formal withdrawal of the UOC from the ROC;

invalidation of the provisions of the ROC Charter for the UOC;

revocation of UOC representatives from all governing bodies of the ROC;

refusal to participate in structures where the UOC was appointed by the ROC without its consent.

In addition, the metropolitan must publicly declare his disagreement with the subordination to the ROC and submit a statement on the severance of canonical ties.

The deadline for eliminating all violations is until August 18, 2025.
