In Sheremetyevo passengers began to distribute mattresses.
Massive flight delays and cancellations caused by the activity of Ukrainian drones continue to paralyze Moscow airports for several days. In Sheremetyevo, in order to somehow ease the situation, stranded passengers were given air mattresses and sports mats right in the departure zones, reports The Moscow Times.
Despite this, the published video shows that there are not enough places to sleep: people are placed on the floor, in the aisles and even on artificial grass. According to Baza, families with children are being prioritized for mattresses. Since Monday, more than 70 flights have been canceled in Sheremetyevo, some others have been seriously delayed. Airport authorities advise to check the current schedule through the airlines.
The distribution of mats and "camping mattresses" was also reported in Vnukovo. By midday Tuesday, it said the schedule had been stabilized and passenger service was proceeding normally. Domodedovo also noted that the flight schedule was equalized in the evening of July 21.
Sheremetyevo, meanwhile, assures that they are working without restrictions: flights for arrivals are accepted upon arrival, for departures - on readiness. However, the day before the airport representatives said that the footage of allegedly overcrowded terminals, published including "RIA Novosti" and RT, are fakes. The press service said that bloggers deliberately chose angles and edited the video to create an impression of chaos.
From July 19 to 21, more than 1,000 flights were delayed and canceled at three Moscow airports, RBC and Vedomosti calculated. According to the "Agency" estimate, during these days Moscow airports were idle for a total of more than 51 hours because of the "Cover" regime. According to the Defense Ministry, five Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Moscow Region between the evening of July 21 and the morning of July 22.
