Budanov: Kellogg Was One Of The First To Promote The Delivery Of F-16s And Patriot Missiles To Ukraine

The general makes it clear that aid to Kiev is fully consistent with the principle of "America First."

The head of the GUR, Kyrill Budanov, has said that the U.S. president's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, was one of those members of Trump's team who advocated the transfer of F-16 aircraft and ATACMS missiles to Kiev.

Budanov said this in an interview published on July 23 with Kyiv Post.

According to the head of the GSD, President Trump's team, in addition to Kellogg, also considers the assistance provided to Ukraine to be clearly insufficient and the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"Their position is absolutely clear - assistance to Ukraine is part of the national interests of the United States. Therefore, it should continue and increase both quantitatively and qualitatively," Budanov said.

According to the head of the GSD, it was Kellogg who promoted the allocation of additional Patriot systems and interceptor missiles to Ukraine.

"As for Keith Kellogg's position, he was one of the first to lobby for the delivery of ATACMS systems and F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. He also lobbied for more Patriot systems and interceptor missiles for Ukraine. This will help protect thousands of Ukrainians, primarily civilians," Budanov said.

The head of the GSD said the U.S. and Ukraine ultimately have a common enemy - Russia.

"He clearly states that aid to Ukraine is fully consistent with the principle of 'America First.' Ultimately, we have a common enemy. And it is strategically important for America today to weaken Russia without engaging its own troops. In the long run, this also affects the situation in the Pacific. But that's a whole other story," Budanov summarized.
