New details of the border conflict.

Fighting broke out again on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. The armed forces of both countries exchanged blows, there are dead civilians. About it writes the publication SRF.

Tensions between the countries have increased after exchanges of fire in the disputed area of Oddar Meanchey province. Thai authorities claim the Cambodian military used a reconnaissance drone near the border temple of Ta Moan Thom, which is disputed by Cambodia, and then used a multiple rocket launcher to fire. The Cambodian side says it was acting in response to an attack by Thai troops.

"The Thai military was the first to launch an armed attack on Cambodian troops. Cambodian troops acted strictly in self-defense in response to the unwarranted invasion by Thai troops who violated our territorial sovereignty," the statement said.

The Thai army retaliated with airstrikes by F-16 fighter jets on two Cambodian military installations.

The Thai Education Department closed all educational institutions in the border area and launched contingency plans across the region.

Thailand also strengthened border controls at the border with Cambodia and urged its citizens to leave Cambodian territory.

In response, Cambodia restricted electricity and fuel supplies to Thailand, as well as internet access. Civilians are being evacuated in adjacent areas on the Cambodian side of the border.

At least one civilian has been killed and seven other military personnel have been injured in the shooting and artillery attack. The clashes were recorded at six locations along a disputed stretch of the border in northeastern Thailand.

Tensions between the countries have risen in recent months over a dispute over border territory that both sides claim as their own.

The Thailand-Cambodia border conflicts have a long history, and regularly the situation between the countries escalates dramatically. Such as in 2008, 2009 and in 2011.
