After a series of explosions, a massive fire broke out.
A night drone attack caused a fire at a strategic facility in the Volgograd region.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to regional Telegram channels of Volgograd and the governor of the region Andrey Bocharov.
The night of July 27 in the Volgograd region of Russia is loud. Local publicks write that a fire broke out in the area of an oil depot amid a drone attack.
So, eyewitnesses in social networks publish videos with explosions and flames, which, according to them, appeared on the territory of the object that looks like an oil depot. The footage shows large puffs of black smoke rising into the night sky.
In the meantime, local governor Andrei Bocharov said in the administration's official Telegram channel that air defense forces "worked properly" and allegedly destroyed all enemy drones that flew at targets in the Volgograd region.
"Air defense units of the Russian Defense Ministry are working properly. There are no casualties. As a result of the fall of drone debris, the power supply in the contact network of the railroad in the Oktyabrsky district was disrupted," Bocharov said.
The official said that specialists of operational and repair services are now working at the scene. The nature of the damage is being clarified and the consequences of the incident are being eliminated.
Although Russian sources do not confirm the fact that it was an oil depot in Russia's Volgograd region that was hit, the scale of the fire in the photo suggests that the target was a fuel or logistics hub critical to military needs.
The Ukrainian side has not yet officially responded. As a rule, the Ukrainian armed forces do not comment on attacks on Russian territory, adhering to a policy of information restraint.
It is not the first time that Volgograd Region, although located far from the front line, has become the target of air attacks.
