Russian Federation Attacks Colony Near Zaporizhzhya With KABs: Many Casualties

The Russian army attacked the territory of Belenkovo penal colony with four guided aerial bombs. The death toll has risen to 17.

According to RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Justice.

It is known that as a result of the strike the canteen of the institution was completely destroyed, the administrative headquarters and the quarantine section suffered significant damage. As a result of the strike, 17 people among the convicts were killed and 42 others were injured.

"The seriously injured were hospitalized in hospitals of the Ministry of Health system. About 40 more people received injuries of varying severity, one employee of the institution received minor wounds (shrapnel injury to the face)," the Ministry of Justice said.

Now about 50 security officers of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine are involved in ensuring order in the institution. All the victims have been given medical assistance, they are under observation in the medical unit, duty unit and other departments of the institution.

The perimeter of the institution is not damaged, there is no threat of escape.

"This strike once again demonstrates a gross violation of international humanitarian law by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. The shelling of civilian infrastructure facilities, in particular penitentiary institutions, is regarded as a war crime," the ministry said.
