Owners of premium cars will pay 10 times the tax this year.

The increased transportation tax will affect hundreds of thousands of car owners. The exact number was named by the representative of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies Andrey Kovalevsky at a press conference in the House of Press.

The new tax began to take effect in January 2024. That is, motorists will pay it for the first time.

"According to preliminary estimates, what I said today is being calculated, it will be about 500,000 cars," said Kovalevsky.

Belarusians will start receiving notices of property taxes, including transportation, in August. This will last until October 1.

The deadline for payment - no later than November 17, 2025.

The tenfold tax applies to luxury brands, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley. The "simpler" cars, such as Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus, are also there, but only some of their models.

The second important condition is that the car must be no older than three years from the date of release.

"So these car owners will really have to pay transportation tax increased by 10 times. But this is an absolutely small number," said a representative of the Ministry of Taxation.

The tax has already been changed

Since 2026, the new tax will come into effect with adjustments.

There is now an allowable age for each brand, and in some cases - and individual models.

So, expensive cars will be taxed until 10 years from the date of release, and those cheaper - only 3-5 years.
