The US president had earlier promised to complete it in "24 hours".

American President Donald Trump has questioned whether he can end Russia's war in Ukraine.

Trump said he is no longer sure whether he can end Russia's war against Ukraine. This statement is very different from his promise to quickly end the conflict that he made during the campaign.

"I don't know. I can't tell you whether it's going to happen or not," the U.S. president said.

When the president was asked if ending the war was a priority, he said he would indeed like that.

"Yes. I would like to see that happen," Trump said.

Over the course of the campaign, Trump promised to end hostilities between the two countries from the first day he took office - "in 24 hours." He later retracted that promise calling it an "exaggeration."
