Germany Begins Transfer Of Patriot Systems To Ukraine

It became known how many installations and when the AFU will receive them.

Germany will transfer two Patriot long-range air defense missile systems to Ukraine. This was made possible by an agreement with the United States, under which Berlin will be the first to receive the latest systems in return, Reuters reported.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, "Germany can first support Ukraine with launchers and then with additional components of the Patriot system."

The Bundeswehr will hand over additional Patriot launchers to Ukraine in the coming days, followed by other elements of the system two to three months later, according to the publication. In exchange, Berlin will receive new Patriot systems from the United States, funding for which is provided on an accelerated basis.

Reuters notes that such supplies are becoming especially urgent amid Russia's intensified strikes on Ukraine.

"Ukraine's air defense needs have become even more urgent after Russia stepped up its air attacks this summer and Patriot systems proved effective in destroying Russian ballistic missiles," the journalists said.
