Drones Attacked Saratov: A Fire Broke Out In The Area Of The Refinery

Explosions in Saratov

According to preliminary data, numerous explosions in Saratov began around 3:00 am. Local governor Roman Busargin said that information about the UAV threat had been received from the Defense Ministry, so all emergency services were put on full alert.

At the same time, eyewitnesses began publishing videos of UAVs striking the territory of an oil refinery, resulting in powerful explosions near the refinery. After the attack, a heavy fire started on the site and a huge column of thick black smoke rose, which is typical of burning oil products.

Locals who witnessed the UAV attack said the Russian military tried to shoot down the drones with small arms. However, most of the drones still reached the target and hit the territory of the oil refinery.

The Saratov governor, in turn, said that as a result of the UAV attack in the city, multi-story houses were damaged, and there were dead and injured. At the same time, the official did not specify that debris fell near the multi-story building as a result of Russian air defense.

In addition, monitoring channels published a map that confirms that the target of the massive drone attack in Saratov was exactly the oil refinery. The images show that it was at the refinery that a massive fire broke out.

Rosneft's strategic facility

The controlling stake in the Saratov refinery (more than 81%) belongs to Rosneft. The capacity of the refinery is 6.75 million tons of oil per year. The refinery processes Urals oil, as well as oil from the Saratov, Sorochinsk, Orenburg and Zaikinsk fields.

The refinery produces more than 20 types of petroleum products. Among the main ones are unleaded gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, vacuum gasoil and technical sulfur.
