The Kremlin's Pathetic Wish

Putin continues to pretend that he can talk about Ukraine without Ukraine.

Just as one day he will think he can talk about the Baltics without the Baltics. This is a way of thinking.

But Russia has long been a country of limited subjectivity, totally dependent on energy sales to the Global South, on DPRK weapons and munitions, on foreign technology and sanctions circumvention schemes.

Such is certainly not equal to the US or China, and is guaranteed to solve nothing in the former Soviet Union, Europe, the Caucasus, or the Middle East.

Putin's desire to make a world in which Europe solves the region's issue not only with the US but also with the Russian Federation is pathetic in its logic.
