Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has officially announced his withdrawal from next week's US Open. The reason for the 34-year-old's withdrawal was an injury sustained at Wimbledon.

Dimitrov initially hoped to recover by the start of the US Open, but it later became clear that would not be enough time.

The Bulgarian's withdrawal has a direct impact on Arina Sobolenko's plans, as the Belarusian, who has not played in the mixed doubles for six years, had intended to join forces with Dimitrov. Now this duo will not be seen in New York, and it is still unclear whether Sobolenko will look for a new partner or concentrate on the usual singles.
