In the center of Shchelkovo near Moscow on the night of August 13, a fire broke out in the local administration building. The fire engulfed the upper floors, and the city was covered with thick black smoke.

It was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russian Telegram channels.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out around 3:30 on the upper floors of the building located on Lenin Square. Fire and rescue units promptly arrived on the scene.

Local residents reported thick black smoke visible from neighboring houses and a strong smell of burning that spread around.

"In the city of Shchelkovo, fire and rescue units put out the fire in the building at Lenina Square, 2. Three people were evacuated. According to preliminary data, there are no victims," - reported in the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

Now the causes of the fire and the exact area of damage are being clarified. At the time of arrival of rescuers the fire was actively spreading, but already at 4:02 it was localized. According to the emergency services, the fire area was 140 square meters.

The fire was extinguished by 19 rescuers and 6 units of equipment.

By the way, according to the local Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were ten fires in the Moscow region over the past day. Fortunately, this time without casualties and victims.
