Operation "Spider Web" was planned for May 9, but the Russian drivers of the vans from which the drones flew were drunk until Easter, so the special operation had to be postponed for a whole month, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyliy Malyuk told "We-Ukraine" in an interview.
The lieutenant-general shared that there were many different issues in the enemy rear that had to be solved.
"One of the issues, and this is such a note of humor: we had planned to do it before May 9, but they went on a "binge" on Easter there, sorry, well, they abused alcohol heavily.... And we couldn't, our sources couldn't call! One driver was missing or the other, you know? Then, on May 1, they had a "Mayowka", and they lay down for a week, they're gone. Then May 9th. We really had a month fell out, I tell you frankly, for this very reason," - shared Malyuk.
Nevertheless, Malyuk noted that everything always turns out the way it should be.
"Based on all that we have prepared and how we did, actually, we are satisfied with June 1 - the day when we conducted this operation and conducted quite successfully," - said the head of the SBU.
The lieutenant general also shared that the preparation for the special operation was held in strict secrecy, so only a few people knew the detailed plan.
"The president was in touch with us all the time. He was also interested in some details many times before and somewhere, frankly speaking, accelerated," the SBU head said.
According to the results of the special operation "Spider's Web", the SBU hit one-third of the Russian enemy strategic aviation - 41 aircraft - with FPV drones.
