CPD: Putin Will Be Disappointed After Meeting With Trump

The expert gave the reason.

Russia is trying to create the impression that it is it, together with U.S. President Donald Trump, that determines the future of Europe and the course of the war in Ukraine. However, they will be disappointed.

The head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation Andrey Kovalenko reported.

"The Russians are trying to pretend that only they and Trump decide the fate of Europe and the war in Ukraine. They are trying to pretend that there are no other positions. However, disappointment and mismatch of expectations await them," Kovalenko said.

The reality will turn out to be unpleasant for Vladimir Putin, he said. Donald Trump does not consider Russia as an equal partner, and the key topic for the US in the dialog with Moscow will be the Arctic and the perception of Russia as a raw materials appendage.

Kovalenko noted that Washington is discussing the issue of Europe and Ukraine directly with the EU and Kiev, Kovalenko emphasized.
