The sanctions are working.
Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate has published data confirming disruptions in the production of Russian Kh-59M2 / M2A missiles. Restricted access to components and sanctions are already affecting the pace of production, the GSD press service reported.
On the War&Sanctions portal, Ukrainian intelligence presented an interactive diagram revealing the chain of suppliers for the Kh-59 missile.
The list includes 116 enterprises involved in the creation of this type of weapon. Almost half of them, about 40%, have not yet been hit by international sanctions. Nevertheless, even under such conditions, the Russian Federation faces systemic problems in fulfilling defense orders.
According to the GSD, Russian manufacturers are experiencing a constant shortage of both domestic and imported components. Limited capacity, supply disruptions and disruption of production schedules force enterprises to regularly report failure to meet plans.
Even the use of parts from old weapons is not saving the situation; the Russian Federation is dismantling old R95 turbojet engines and homing heads en masse to adapt them for new missiles.
Intelligence has recorded cases when only their mass-size mock-ups were installed instead of active radar homing heads (ARGSN). This element of the ARGSN is one of the most expensive and technically complex, which makes it the main problematic component in the production of the X-59.
At the same time, dozens of Russian enterprises that produce electronics, guidance systems and other key components for missiles, are still not under sanctions. Their products make it possible to modernize engines and extend the life of weapons used in strikes against Ukraine.
The GSD stresses that the already imposed sanctions are noticeably slowing down the pace of missile production, and extending restrictions on lower-level suppliers could further weaken the Russian military-industrial complex.
The Kh-59 missile was the sixth project in the War&Sanctions interactive circuit series, which previously featured developments on the Kh-101 cruise missile, the C8000 Banderol, the CBTS.611000 drones, V2U and Shahed-136 MS.
