The White House has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling him a "president of peace."

The White House said in a statement.

The White House has officially nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

"President Donald Trump is a president of peace," the statement said.

Those who supported the U.S. leader's nomination included:

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan;

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev;

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet;

President of Gabon Bris Oligie Nguema;

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu;

Pakistani government;

Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungire.

Pakistan said last month that it would recommend Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to help resolve the conflict with India.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later said he himself had nominated Trump for the prize.

In early August, Cambodia also announced its intention to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
