The media gave the reason.
The Russian Federal Tax Service (FTS) has blocked the accounts of Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin, reports "Mash on Sport".
According to the source, the 39-year-old hockey player has not filed his IP declarations since 2023. At the same time, he has no debts to the tax authorities.
It is noted that the tax authorities systematically blocked Ovechkin's accounts: two in 2023, two more in 2024 and one at the end of July 2025. Through the sole proprietorship, the Russian forward had previously sold merchandise under a personal brand.
Ovechkin has played for Washington since 2005. He is the 2018 Stanley Cup winner and the best sniper in NHL regular-season history. In the 2024/25 season, the Capitals forward broke the record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894) for goals in the regular championships of the North American league. After 20 seasons, Ovechkin has 897 goals.
