Serbian President Made A Statement That Will Not Please Lukashenko
Aleksandar Vucic

Vucic said that only dictators change the constitution to suit themselves.

Serbian President Alexander Vucic said on August 13 that he is not going to change the country's constitution to run for president again. He said this at a press conference in Belgrade following a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, writes "Meduza".

"I am a political veteran, I can no longer run for president, and the thought of changing the constitution to keep running does not occur to me. I am not a dictator as you present me in the Austrian media, I will finish my presidential career in a year and a half," Vucic said in response to a question from an Austrian journalist (quoted by Kurir).

The Serbian president added that he will continue to participate in political life in the future, but would not say now what position he will take.

In contrast to the Serbian leader, who openly stated that he would not change the constitution in order to retain power, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has rewritten it several times during his three decades in power. Each time it was accompanied by falsified "referendums", suppression of protests and cleansing of the political field. In this way Lukashenko consistently eliminated term limits and ensured that he could remain in power for life.
