Trump Revealed What He Will Talk To Putin About In Alaska

Russia will face serious consequences if the Kremlin does not agree to end the war.

U.S. President Donald Trump has told Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky and European allies that he will not discuss the territorial division of Ukraine with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Trump told European leaders that his goal at a meeting with Putin in Alaska was a cease-fire in Ukraine, sources tell NBC News.

The sources detailed that Trump told European leaders during a phone call that he did not intend to discuss any land swaps at the meeting with Putin. The informed sources said Trump said Trump said he would meet with Putin to push for a cease-fire in Ukraine.

Trump and European leaders agreed that a cease-fire in Ukraine must be reached before peace talks can begin, said European officials who denoted in the details of the conversation. They added that some European leaders had the impression that Trump was not optimistic about the outcome of his meeting with Putin.

The sources added that the leaders were united in the opinion that if Putin did not agree to a ceasefire, Trump would impose new sanctions against Russia. Also, all sides agreed that Ukraine should also be included in the talks and decide for itself what territorial concessions it is willing to make.

Sources shared that European leaders came away with a positive attitude about Trump's plans to meet with Putin. One said that achieving a ceasefire is expected to be Trump's priority for the meeting. Another expressed confidence that Ukrainian territory would not be discussed without Ukraine.

In turn, Trump called his phone conversation with European leaders "very good" and suggested that there could be another meeting with Zelensky after his meeting with Putin:

"There's a good chance that we're going to have a second meeting that will be more productive than the first one because, first of all, I'm going to find out where we are and what we're doing," Trump said.

"I would like to do that almost immediately, and if they want to, we'll have a quick second meeting between Putin, Zelensky and myself," the White House chief said.

The president reiterated that Russia would face "serious consequences" if Putin does not agree to end the war.
