French Foreign Ministry: U.S. Will Join In Providing Security Guarantees For Ukraine

Such a promise was made to European partners by Donald Trump.

United States President Donald Trump said he will demand a ceasefire in Ukraine during his meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The head of the French Foreign Ministry Jean-Noël Barrot said on social media X that such a statement by the American leader was made during a virtual summit with European leaders.

Trump also added that negotiations on the territories "will take place only in the presence of Vladimir Zelensky during the next meeting," he said.

In addition, the American leader said during the meeting that "the United States will join the security guarantees developed by a coalition of volunteer countries united by France, Britain and Germany."

The summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will be held in Alaska on August 15. Ukraine and European representatives will not be at the negotiating table.
