Another prisoner exchange has taken place between Ukraine and Russian Federation. It took place against the backdrop of the upcoming meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, RBC-Ukraine reports.
According to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, 84 people were returned home today.
"These are both military and civilians. Almost all of them need medical care, significant rehabilitation," the head of state noted.
He said that among the civilians released today are those who were held by the Russians since 2014, 2016 and 2017.
"Among the military released today are the defenders of Mariupol. I am grateful to everyone who helps us continue to release Ukrainian prisoners," the Ukrainian president wrote.

We would like to recall that before that, the exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and Russia took place on July 23, 2025. At that time, the ninth stage of the exchange of prisoners of war took place in accordance with the agreements reached between the delegations in Istanbul in June.
They returned home the servicemen of the AFU, in particular, from the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Navy, TRO Forces, as well as the State Border Guard Service, National Guard and National Police of Ukraine.
They fought in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Lugansk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernihiv directions. Some of the released soldiers were captured during the defense of Mariupol and spent more than 3 years in captivity.
In addition to representatives of soldiers and sergeants, officers were also released.
Additionally, during the second round of talks in Turkey, the Russian and Ukrainian sides agreed to an "all for all" exchange of severely wounded, seriously ill and prisoners of war aged 18 to 25.
Together under these agreements, exchanges have taken place since the beginning of June on June 9, 10, 12, 14, 19, 20 and 26. As well as on July 4 and 23.
