ISW: The AFU Pushed Back The Enemy At An Important Point

Ukrainian forces are advancing step by step in one of the most difficult areas.

The Ukrainian military has successfully managed to carry out a certain advance in the Liman direction, as reported by the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its regular report.

According to the analysts, this is confirmed by geolocation videos released on August 14, which show the AFU advancing in the southern part of the village of Torskoye, located east of Liman.

At the same time, ISW also cites Russian sources: they claim that their troops have advanced north of Srednee and about half a kilometer within Shandrigolovo, both settlements northwest of Liman. However, U.S. analysts note that they have no confirmation of these claims.

A representative of a Ukrainian brigade fighting in this sector said that the Russian Federation has pulled in significant forces in the Liman direction and is constantly adding reserves.

He said Russian units undergo only one month of training before being sent to the front and operate in small firing groups of two to four infantrymen. In addition, enemy drones control the territory to a depth of 15-20 km.

The AFU General Staff noted that over the past day in the Liman direction, Ukrainian defenders repulsed 14 Russian attacks in the areas of Redkodub, Grekovka, Mirnoye, Shandrigolovoye, Kolodyazi, Karpovka. Two more clashes are still ongoing.

"Russia carried out 60 air strikes, dropping 110 guided bombs, attracted 1,673 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,692 shelling of Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements," the report reads.
