RF believes he sympathizes with Ukraine.
U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg was not included in the delegation that traveled to the Anchorage summit because the Russian side perceives him as a Ukraine sympathizer.
This was reported by CNN, citing two senior officials in the Trump administration.
"Keith Kellogg, a former general who is the Trump administration's chief negotiator with the Ukrainians, is perceived by the Russian side as someone who sympathizes with Ukraine, which could make his presence at the meeting 'counterproductive,'" one of the officials said.
The officials also said that Kellogg shared all information about the negotiations with the Ukrainian side, with President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio. Therefore, his absence is allegedly "not a serious problem."
At the same time, the European official emphasized that Kellogg's presence was expected there "and he should have been there." He added that the U.S. delegation would lack the in-depth knowledge of the situation on the ground that the special envoy possesses.
But Kellogg is expected to be included in the delegation that will travel to a potential future meeting between the United States, Ukraine and Russia.
