The U.S. president also revealed what might upset him in a meeting with the Russian dictator.
US President Donald Trump has said that if talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin fail, he will return home. He said this in a commentary on Fox News.
"If the meeting with Putin goes badly, I will leave," he told journalist Brett Baer.
Trump added that he was optimistic.
"We're headed to meet with President Putin in Alaska, and I think it will go very well - and if it doesn't, I'll go home very quickly," the American leader said.
On board Air Force One, US President Donald Trump told reporters that he would be "not happy" if the meeting with Putin in Alaska did not result in a ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
"I want a quick ceasefire. I don't know if it will happen today, but I will be saddened if it [happens] not today," he said.
