Trump After Meeting With Putin: No Deal

The tight-knit meeting lasted more than two and a half hours.

A deal could not be reached at the end of the summit, US President Donald Trump said.

"A complete understanding could not be found," he added.

Trump, however, said the conversation was productive. "We made a lot of progress today," he added.

"We didn't quite reach the goal, but we made progress," Trump also said.

The joint dinner between the Russian and U.S. delegations has been canceled and Trump is returning to Washington, the White House said. Neither Putin nor Trump would take questions from reporters.
