Trump Called Zelensky After Alaska Talks

US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky after the three-on-three talks at the Alaska summit, UNIAN reported, citing Fox News. According to media reports, European leaders also took part in the conversation.

Later, Trump said he had called Zelensky and NATO colleagues to brief them on the content of the meeting with Putin, Ukrainian TV channel FREEDOM reported.

"I've already made phone calls to some important people. I've already called Zelensky," said he.

The narrow-format talks between the Russian and US presidents have ended. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov participated with Putin. Trump was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Whitkoff.

The Ukrainian president was not present at the Alaska summit; Trump promised to call him immediately after his talks with Putin.

Trump held another meeting with European leaders and the Ukrainian president on Aug. 13, two days before his summit with the Russian president. The online meeting was attended by the leaders of Germany, Finland, France, Britain, Italy and Poland, among others. That conversation the American president called "good." According to the Financial Times, Zelensky called on Trump to ensure the possibility of trilateral talks at the leaders' level, as well as an "unconditional ceasefire."
