Anchorage residents are outraged at the reception of a war criminal.
On August 15, the day Donald Trump met with Vladimir Putin, hundreds of Anchorage, Alaska residents protested. With placards reading "End the war," "Alaska and Ukraine together, Russia - never again," and "Ceding Ukraine to Putin is like ceding Czechoslovakia to Hitler," Americans took to the curbs along the roads, "Dialog.UA".
The video of the protests was published on the RawsAlerts account on social network X. The leitmotif of all the protesters was a misunderstanding of why Vladimir Zelensky was not present at the summit.
"Alaska supports Ukraine. Zelensky should be here. War criminals have no place here," the protester emphasized.
Many appeared outraged by the Kremlin dictator's arrival in the American state. "We stand here with Ukraine. Russia is an aggressor, Putin is a war criminal he has no place in Alaska," an American woman is sure.
A certain part of US citizens treated the event not only with criticism, but also with sarcasm. "Zelensky should be here. This meeting shouldn't be here, what's it for? Maybe they want to build Trump Tower in Moscow?" - wondered one participant.
A young African-American woman was the most outspoken about the summit. "They are infringing on our democracy, on the democracy of Ukraine. To host a war criminal here (in the state of Alaska) is a disgrace," the girl summarized.
