A Grand Parade On The Polish Army Day Was Held In Warsaw

For the first time in history, a naval column has been added to the traditional military parade.

The Polish Army Day parade was held on Wislostrada in Warsaw. The event involves more than 4,000 soldiers of all branches of the Polish Armed Forces. There will also demonstrate almost 50 aircraft and 300 units of modern equipment in service with the Polish Army, reports "Polish Radio".

This year, for the first time, the parade on the ground and in the air is complemented by a maritime component - Navy ships take part in a parallel maritime parade. President Karol Nawrocki noted the significance of the Battle of Warsaw in a social media post. He emphasized the participation of Ukrainians who fought alongside Polish forces against the Red Army. The president added that Russian imperialism has been threatening the freedom of citizens of other countries for centuries.

"Polish political tradition teaches that Russian expansionism is based on the legacy of internal despotism, where the only free man is the ruler himself," the president wrote. He emphasized that Russian imperialism can only be defeated by a union of free people.

Karol Nowrocki invited all those who value freedom to join Poles celebrating the stopping of Russian despotism and the defense of freedom.

"That is why we will never succumb to Russian imperialism, and that is why we are on the side of Ukraine today defending its freedom - to make Europe whole, free and to establish peace in it again. Russia is not invincible. Russia can be stopped," the president emphasized.

The chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Pavel Koval, drew a symbolic parallel to the fact that Trump and Putin are meeting in Alaska today, the day Russian forces were defeated near Warsaw.

"Thank God for the meeting in Alaska on August 15. The Russians have convinced half the world that "they always win." And this is the anniversary of the great Russian defeat of the Poles in 1920. Our allies in that war with Russia (1919-1921) were, among others, France, Ukraine, free Belarus, Latvia, Hungary and Romania. I hope these facts will become public knowledge," he wrote.

In the meantime, in the Polish capital, the ceremonial changing of the guard of honor at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Józef Piłsudski Square has ended. Among others, President Karol Nawrocki, Sejm Speaker Szymon Cholownia and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz took part in the festivities to mark Armed Forces Day in Poland. Together with representatives of the army, the politicians laid a wreath from the Nation at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The President then laid wreaths at the Monument to the Victims of the Smolensk Disaster and at the Monument to President Lech Kaczynski. At the end of the commemorative event, the president, together with the head of the Defense Ministry and the speaker of the Sejm, as well as representatives of the Polish army, laid a wreath at the monument to Józef Piłsudski.

Polish Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, which decided the outcome of the Polish-Bolshevik war. The battle took place on the outskirts of Warsaw and ended in Polish victory.
