More Than 60 Targets Shot Down: Ukraine Repulses Massive Russian Air Attack

On the night of August 16, the Russians attacked Ukrainian cities with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 85 strike UAVs.
The Russian Armed Forces have attacked frontline areas of Sumshchyna, Donetschyna, Chernigov and Dnipropetrovsk, the Ukrainian Air Force informs.
Preliminary data from the air defense shoot down/suppressed 61 enemy UAVs in the north and east of the country.
Missiles and 24 UAVs reportedly hit in 12 locations.
Sumsk region
The air alert in Sumy region lasted 15 hours and 26 minutes, said the head of the regional military administration Oleg Grigorov.
According to him, during this time there were almost 120 shelling attacks on 44 settlements in 14 communities of the region.
In Velikopisarevska community, a man was killed as a result of an FPV drone strike on a civilian car, in Seredino-Budska community a woman was hospitalized, who was injured due to strikes by UAVs, and in Sumska community a woman was injured as a result of an attack by UAVs, who is now being treated as an outpatient.
Damage was recorded in six communities. In particular, in the Central Market of the regional center, 10 kiosks were destroyed and the same number of other kiosks were damaged, an educational institution and non-residential buildings nearby were also damaged.
The enemy attacked the Pokrovska community of Sinelnikovsky district with drones at night, the head of the OBA Sergei Lysak said.

Nikopol was shelled from artillery, also the enemy hit the city by FPV-drone.

At the time of publication of the material there were no official reports on the consequences of enemy attacks from local authorities and emergency services of Donetsk and Chernihiv regions. However, the telegram channel "Nikolaevsky Vanek" wrote that "ballistics hit Goncharovsky", obviously referring to the military training ground in Chernihiv region.
The General Staff of the AFU has not yet commented on this information. The morning report says that over the past 24 hours the enemy launched two missile and 111 air strikes on positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using three missiles and dropping 213 guided bombs. In addition, the enemy fired 6,045 rockets, including 98 from multiple rocket launchers, and engaged 5,659 kamikaze drones.
Air strikes were carried out, in particular, in the areas of Zhikhovo and Boyaro-Lezhachi in Sumy region; Krasny Khutor in Chernihiv region; Bilohorye in Zaporizhzhia region; and Mykolaivka in Kherson region.
