Trump Issued A Statement After His Conversation With Zelensky

The president of the United States called the best way to end the war.

US President Donald Trump has said that the best way to end a war is through a peace agreement, not a ceasefire. He wrote this in a TruthSocial post after meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, and a subsequent conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and European leaders.

He said the meeting with Putin went "very well," as did a late-night phone call with Zelensky and European leaders, "including the very distinguished NATO Secretary General."

"Everyone decided that the best way to end the terrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to move to a peace agreement that will end the war, not a simple cease-fire agreement that often doesn't hold up," Trump said.

He also said the Ukrainian president will come to the Oval Office on Monday afternoon.

"If everything works out, we will schedule a meeting with President Putin. The lives of millions of people may be saved," Trump said.
