Famous Russian Propagandist Almost Went Blind After Washing Up In Donetsk
Dmitry Steshin

He set the bucket of tap water out in the sun.

Journalist of the propaganda Russian newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" Dmitri Steshin washed his face in occupied Donetsk and almost went blind. He told about it in a post on his Telegram channel, writes "Focus".

Steshin said that he put a bucket of tap water in the sun to heat up and ended up with a 15-liter "petri dish".

It is reported that he picked up acanthamoeba keratitis. The journalist began with increased tearfulness and an acute reaction to light. Nevertheless, he showed up for a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, and then he "became quite ill."

As the doctor later explained, the cause of the illness was amoebas that had penetrated the cornea of his eye and were literally eating it.

"For the past month, the water for Donetsk has been scraping through the cracks, so it's not a fact that the flytrap is to blame. It's simply not meant for washing or drinking. And there is no other," Steshin reported.

He is sure that he could have picked up the infection in Donetsk. Steshin washed his face with water that he had left in a warm place to warm up - because of this, dangerous bacteria could breed there. In Donetsk, the water disappeared in mid-July. The Russian occupants were unable to provide the city occupied by them with water. The residents of Donetsk are forced to draw water in puddles and during rains.
