Trump Made An Interesting Statement On Crimea

The US president compared the peninsula to Texas.

US President Donald Trump said that if Crimea had been occupied during his presidency, it would have hit the front pages of the media for 20 years.

"If I had given up that territory, I would have hit the front pages of every newspaper for the next 20 years," the US president said.

At the same time, he noted that the media does not even remember that Crimea was occupied during the presidency of Barack Obama.

In addition, Trump said that Crimea is close to the size of Texas.

"It's wonderful. This huge piece of land stretching right into the ocean, right into the Black Sea, it's so beautiful. I mean, it's so beautiful," Trump said.

It's worth noting, however, that Crimea has an area of roughly 27,000 kilometers square, while Texas is more than 695,000 kilometers square. Thus the American state is almost 26 times larger than the Ukrainian peninsula and larger in total area than the entire Ukraine.
