Polish Investigators Believe A Military Drone Crashed Into A Field In Lubelskie Region

Experts are investigating where the device came from and why it ended up on Polish territory.
Preliminary findings from the Polish prosecutor's office suggest that a military drone fell into a cornfield in the Lublin region overnight, RMF FM reports.
A team of five prosecutors and experts from different regions is now surveying the cornfield, looking for metal and plastic debris - the remains of what fell and exploded last night in the village of Osiny.
Preliminary findings indicate that a military drone fell on the field in Osiny, Lublin District Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz said. A military pyrotechnic expert must determine what exactly exploded and whether the explosion occurred after the drone fell to the ground, or in the air (there is a power line nearby, the drone may have hit it).
A PAP source in the Defense Ministry said that a military drone without a combat part fell there, most likely a so-called decoy drone containing only a small amount of explosives.
The purpose of such drones is to snag air defense systems and divert their "attention" from purely combat drones.
The services cannot now determine who made it or from what country the object that fell in the cornfield came from.
A total of about 100 officers are expected to search the field. "We will divide the area into sectors, assign tasks to certain services, and then we will have information on whether we need to mow the corn or carry out other activities," said prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz.
"Several hectares are to be searched. We can expect preliminary results of the visual inspection within a few or several hours," he told RMF FM at 13:00.
On the morning of August 20, it became known that an unknown object fell onto a corn field in the village of Osiny in Poland's Lublin voivodeship and exploded.
