An Alleged Participant Of The Nord Streams Explosion Was Detained In Italy

In the Italian province of Rimini last night detained a man suspected of involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream-1 and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines. As reported by the German Federal Prosecutor's Office, we are talking about a citizen of Ukraine Sergei K., writes Bild.

According to investigators, he was part of a group that in September 2022 near the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea planted explosive devices on the pipelines. The prosecutor's office claims that Sergei K. was one of the coordinators of the operation.

According to the investigation, the saboteurs left the port of Rostock on a rented yacht. The vessel was rented through fake persons and using forged documents from a German company.

The explosions on September 26, 2022 caused serious damage to both highways. Sergei K. will now face extradition to Germany, where he will stand trial.
