Belgium To Buy A Large Batch Of F-35 Aircraft

In preparation for participation in high-intensity NATO operations.

The Belgian Defense Ministry announced plans to significantly strengthen the armed forces in preparation for participation in high-intensity NATO operations. In particular, the country will additionally purchase 11 more F-35 aircraft.

According to "RBC-Ukraine" with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belgium.

According to the document "Strategic Vision", developed with the participation of the Minister of Defense Theo Franken, the country will additionally purchase 11 F-35 fighters from the United States. They will be delivered in addition to the previously ordered 34 aircraft.

Belgium also intends to purchase an anti-submarine frigate and a logistics support ship. The military plans to equip troops with dozens of sea and air drones of various types. These measures are part of a broad program to modernize the country's military capabilities.

The document notes that 140 billion euros will be allocated for defense until 2035. Of these, 34 billion euros will be spent on the purchase of new weapons, including airplanes, ships and drones.
