Musk Accused Apple And OpenAI Of "insidious Collusion"

And sued.

The head of X, Tesla, xAI and other companies Ilon Musk sued Apple and OpenAI, accusing them of collusion and hindering the development of competitors in the field of artificial intelligence. This is reported by Reuters.

In Musk's version, Apple and OpenAI have effectively "blocked the market" by preventing new players like X and xAI from emerging. The lawsuit alleges that Apple is intentionally limiting the visibility of X and Grok apps and lowering their positions in the rankings because of its exclusive partnership with OpenAI.

"Were it not for Apple's exclusive arrangement with OpenAI, the company would have no reason to ignore other AI products in its app store," the lawsuit excerpts.

Although Apple has indeed integrated ChatGPT into its devices, it's not yet clear whether it's an antitrust violation. Especially since other AI services have previously risen to the top of the rankings. For example, the DeepSeek app was first on the App Store in January this year.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded to the accusations by ironically noting that such claims seem odd, given "Musk's own reputation," which, according to Altman, has repeatedly tampered with the social network's algorithms to promote its own publications and limit competitors.

It's worth noting that the lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of Texas, known for its loyalty to Musk. This is not the first time he has chosen this particular court to litigate what some have called "litigation shopping."
