Kadyrov's Nephew Staged A Fatal Road Accident In Grozny

Yasin Zakriev, chairman of Chechnya's Accounts Chamber and nephew of the republic's head Ramzan Kadyrov, committed a traffic accident in Grozny on July 20, 2025, killing a married couple and seriously injuring their two children, the Center for the Protection of Human Rights "Memorial" reported. According to the center, Zakriev hit their car from behind.

"The next day, the funerals were held: on the orders of the authorities, they immediately held an action of reconciliation between the families. No criminal case was opened," human rights activists said.

The Chechen opposition movement Niyso wrote about the accident on July 21, citing local residents. Zakriyev was said to have "rushed at great speed and crashed into a car carrying an elderly husband and wife", both of whom died at the scene.
