Earlier, Ukraine adopted a law on multiple citizenship.
On August 26, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reported in Telegram about his meeting with representatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians (WCU).
"Together we talked about diplomatic work, pressure on Russia, the return of kidnapped children, support for our schoolchildren and attracting investment in reconstruction. We also discussed supporting our warriors. Representatives of Congress said that they have already sent the collected funds for drones and pickup trucks for the front," the president wrote.
He thanked the VCU for their help.
"We also talked about multiple citizenship. The law has been adopted, in the near future the government will adopt the necessary regulations, and the first countries where the norms will be applied will be Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, USA and Canada. This is a step for even greater unity of Ukrainians in the world," Zelensky explained.
Zelensky's press-service specified that during a meeting with representatives of the UCU he said that first the mechanism of multiple citizenship will be applied to Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, and after that it is planned to extend to Canada and the United States.
In July, Zelensky said that first of all it would be Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic states, but "we should also think about Canada and other countries where there are many Ukrainians and where Ukraine is so strongly supported".
