"Canned" came out on Kabaeva's birthday and before her meeting with Whitkoff.
The Kremlin is passing off as fresh photos of illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin taken several months ago. This is according to an investigation by Radio Liberty's "Sistema" project published on August 26.
Investigators found that between February 17 and February 24, 2025, Putin's office in the Kremlin changed the arrangement of books on the bookshelves, which are usually in the camera lenses during his receptions. In particular, new editions have appeared, and the Russian constitution has moved from the right side of the cabinet to the left.
Journalists concluded that after February, in five cases out of nearly 50, the press service used "canned images" - pre-recorded footage of Putin that is served up as fresh.

According to Sistema, "canned" footage with Putin was served in the news:
April 2 - meeting with Alexei Tsydenov, head of Buryatia;
April 7 - meeting with Sergei Alexandrovsky, head of Aeroflot;
April 9 - meeting with Svetlana Chupsheva, director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives;
April 10 - meeting with Vitaly Mututskiy, head of DOM.RF" Vitaly Mutko;
May 12, 2025 - meeting with Ivanovo Region Governor Stanislav Voskresensky.
"Using pre-prepared records for publication on another day is a fairly common practice of the Kremlin. Sometimes it is related to the president's health, sometimes - to Putin's desire to take a break from publicity," the media outlet wrote.

The authors of the publication pointed out that no group meetings or mass events involving Putin were reported between April 2 and April 10, and "he appeared in public outside the Kremlin" only on April 11, when he received U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Whitkoff in St. Petersburg.
"Konserva" May 12, Sistema speculated, may be related to the fact that Putin's mistress, Russian ex-gymnast Alina Kabaeva, celebrated her 42nd birthday that day.
