"An Important Signal": Whitkoff To Meet With Ukraine Representatives In NYC

The parties will discuss the next phase of ending the war.

The US President's Special Representative for Middle East Affairs Steve Whitkoff will meet with representatives of Ukraine this week. The sides will discuss the next stage of ending the war.

The meeting will take place in New York. Trump's special envoy called it an important factor.

Whitkoff did not specify with whom he would meet and on what day.

"This is an important signal. We communicate with the Russians on a daily basis. I think we could see a bilateral meeting (of the Ukrainian and Russian presidents. - ed.) soon," Whitkoff said in an interview with Fox News.

The Trump spokesman was asked whether Russian dictator Putin said during the meeting in Alaska to end the war. Whitkoff answered in the affirmative.

"Yes, absolutely. There is a peace proposal on the table. He did say that and hopefully he will stick to his promise," he said.
