The U.S. President's special envoy explained his position.
U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff said Tuesday that the Nobel Committee should pay attention to President Donald Trump's peace efforts when it considers candidates for the peace prize.
The U.S. president's special envoy said this in an interview with Fox News.
Commenting on peace efforts to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, Whitkoff said Trump has done a "tremendous job of resolving seven separate conflicts."
"And why? Because he's a humanitarian at heart. At heart, he wants the killing to stop. And I can tell you this: I just hope that when the time comes to evaluate, in terms of the Nobel Peace Prize, the work that President Trump has done, there will be widespread recognition of exactly what has happened on the world stage," the special envoy to the U.S. president said.
