Further dialog with Russians should be based on this strategy.
An adviser to the head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak said on the air of "My Ukraine" on Aug. 30 that before U.S. President Donald Trump's summit with illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, there was an ideal design for ending the war in Ukraine.
"There was a concept before Anchorage, a key one, I remind you. In my opinion, it was a perfect construct. The evidence of readiness to end the war - we understand that there may be long negotiations and so on at the level that [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky proposed - but the first step that will clearly signal is a cease-fire," he said.
According to Podolyak, it is necessary to build further dialog with the Russians on the strategy that envisioned a ceasefire before the negotiations.
"We should have adhered to this strategy that Ukraine proposed: a ceasefire, then the negotiation process - it can drag on, I emphasize once again. Further - there will be a certain time of temporary truce, freezing along the front line and so on. But there will already be an understanding that Russia really wants to get out of the war. Today, obviously, they do not want to get out of the war - on the contrary, they say: "We still have the appropriate resources. As long as you give us more on the global market to collect these resources, to finance these or those resource opportunities, we will go to war". They do it because it is unpunished, secondly, they like it, and thirdly, Russia does not exist without war, it is Russia's subjectivity," he summarized
